Chart researcher Wes Jay says for KING & COUNTRY's song "Fix My Eyes" has secured the most airplay of any Christian song on Australian Christian radio in the past year, and the duo has generated the most high rotation airplay by any Christian act throughout the sector.
"'Fix My Eyes' spent a total of 30 weeks in the survey," Mr Jay says. "It dominated the top spot for 11 consecutive weeks, and secured a position in the Top 10 for a total of 29 weeks. That's unprecedented!"
Jay says that throughout the year, for KING & COUNTRY was regularly represented in the weekly charts with Fix My Eyes and Hope Is What We Crave, and as the featured artist on Lecrae's hit, Messengers. All three songs made the Top 100.
"This is the first time the duo has won the gong for Song Of The Year, and their second consecutive win for Artist Of The Year," Mr Jay says.
The honors coincide with the duo topping TCM's annual Top 100 Christian airplay chart, and Artist chart.
Michael W Smith (2002) and Nathan Tasker (2006) are the only other acts in the chart's 16-year history to win dual honors.
For KING & COUNTRY's Joel Smallbone says they're humbled by the honors.
"It's one thing to be recognised in America for your music and songwriting. But to be recognised in your home country is both humbling and incredibly exciting.
"I think the next thing on the docket now - since it's been two consecutive years - is to return home and tour," Joel says.
